While he remains positive that he will be exonerated from the charges leveled against him by a certain T. Johnson, Richard Holden, a former member of the Special Forces in England, is nevertheless traumatized by his arrest and the succeeding reports which apparently condemned him guilty despite the fact that his accuser never surfaced during the preliminary hearing according to his lawyer Atty. Allan Martinez.
The British National was nabbed by BOI agents from Manila last week after they reportedly received an e-mail accusing the pensioner of stalking Filipinas, engaging sex with them and posting their nude photos in the internet. However, Holden’s camp believes that this T. Johnson exists by name only and that somebody who holds grudge against Holden is manipulating the BOI. However, Holden’s friends and relatives rallied in his defense by conducting a signature campaign in the neighborhood where Holden rents a house along Escaño Beach, Piapi. Some of the residents even sent him letters to show sympathy.
Martinez intends to present these letters of support to the BOI if only to show that Holden is not an “undesirable alien” as his enemies would want to portray him.
Martinez warned that they are gathering evidences against the people whom they believe to be responsible of publicly humiliating Holden. And although he refused to name names but the lawyer questions the timing of his client’s arrest and detention which came days after the prosecutor ordered the filing of information for frustrated murder against another foreigner whom Holden charged after he was mauled inside the respondent’s bar.
Holden’s lawyer is confident that the case won’t prosper. He already filed a petition for bail so Holden could gain temporary liberty. The next hearing is scheduled Tuesday, October 28 in Manila.
