Private detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann hope to meet with convicted paedophile Raymond Hewlett this week. Hewlett has said he was prepared to meet with them.
Detectives have also revealed that four new witnesses have been uncovered. All are reported to have been living near Praia da Luz at the time the youngster, from Rothley, disappeared.
Kate and Gerry McCann's spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said: "Hewlett has indicated he is prepared to speak to the private investigators helping Kate and Gerry. "That interview is in the process of being arranged. It is likely to take place in the next few days "Our investigations are continuing to provide a number of leads and a number of names have been suggested to them as people of potential interest. "They are working through these."
He said the investigative team - former detectives Dave Edgar and Arthur Cowley - would also be speaking with Peter Verran, who spent three months in Morocco with Hewlett after Madeleine's disappearance.
In the Sunday Mirror, Mr Verran, a former Scots Guard, said he had been interviewed by Leicestershire police.
Mr Mitchell said the recent flurry of activity had brought strength to Kate and Gerry.
